Happy 10th anniversary for Locals Restaurant!


This spring marks our 10th anniversary.  Kus-kus-sum was on Saturday May 26th and it was a huge success Locals and Project Watershed are very grateful to our extremely generous community, Thank you.  


Locals is perfectly located for this event as it is directly across the river from the Kus-kus-sum site. Tim Ennis, Project Watershed’s Senior Kus-kus-sum Project Manager invited guests to imagine the 440 meters of steel wall and 8.3 acres of pavement they see before them as lush habitat that supports salmon and other wildlife. The event helps to remind us that we are not only creating a legacy in the heart of our community, but also creating critical salmon habitat that will help sustain our west coast food resources.

Locals Inspired Recipe Contest” June 1st through June 20t

For our 10th Anniversary we’re “turning the tables” on our guests and wish to see what you can create from our local bounty. If you win, you will have your dish featured on the 3 Course Dinner Menu for the month of July, and receive a Gift Basket with an estimated $500 value, that reflects the bounty of this amazing Valley.

Contest Guidelines:

  • Create, or re-create your favourite entree using only locally sourced ingredients from the Comox Valley and Vancouver Island.

  • List all ingredients and identify their source; farm/company/brand/producer, etc.

  • Include all steps of the recipe with specific instructions.

  • Submit your recipe with an accompanying photo via email to

  • Locals Inspired Recipe Contest submissions must be entered by midnight on June 20th.

  • The Locals culinary brigade will recreate the dishes and they will be judged on taste, appearance, aroma, creativity, and use of local ingredients.

  • The 3 finalists will be announced on June 21st, and posted on Locals Facebook page from June 21st - June 28th

  • The winner will be determined by the number of likes their recipe receives on Facebook.

  • Grand Winner announced on June 28th.
